“‘Who can hide in secret places so that I cannot see them?’ declares the Lord. ‘Do not I fill heaven and earth?’ declares the Lord.” ~ Jeremiah 23:24
Wherever You Are might be my favorite Third Day album title. We didn’t really plan it, but that’s how it turned out.
We have always procrastinated when it comes to naming albums. With maybe one exception, we have an album totally finished and the record company is patiently waiting for us to come up with a title. During this time we’ll often look back over song lyrics and find a simple phrase that expresses a common theme running through the songs.
That was the case with Wherever You Are. Taken from the song “Cry Out to Jesus” is this little phrase “He’ll meet you wherever you are.”
We serve a God who is everywhere. There is an accountability in that for sure. Whatever we’re doing, wherever we are in life, whatever games we are playing with our faith, God sees that. It makes me want to do better.
But most of all, realizing that God is everywhere is very comforting. There is nowhere we can go and nothing we can do that will separate us from the love of God.
God will meet you wherever you are. Right now. Whether you feel like you are at a good place or a horrible place in your life right now – that doesn’t matter at all to God. Wherever you are right now is the perfect place to meet him.
God is everywhere means that God is right here with you, right now. And that is comforting indeed.
