“By your words I can see where I’m going; they throw a beam of light on my dark path.” ~ Psalm 119:105 MSG
It blows my mind whenever people talk about something they’re going through or a decision they’re trying to make and then give me that blank stare when I ask them if they’ve been reading their Bible.
God’s Word should be one of the very first things you turn to no matter what we’re going through.
A lot of people feel like they’ve got to be in the right mood or frame of mind to read the Bible. Don’t be afraid to bring whatever’s on your heart with you when you spend time in the Word. It’s amazing how you can read the same passage at different times and it take on a different meaning because of what you’re going through.
Allow God’s Word into your life. Start small, by reading just a few minutes a day. Make it a habit. You may feel like you’re not getting anything out of it, but that’s beside the point. By spending time in the Bible every day, you’re not just reading God’s Word – you’re allowing God’s Word to read you. God will use it to meet you where you are and to take you where he wants you to go. You will be changed for the better in the process.
God will use his Word to guide you through life’s twists and turns. It’s not like a GPS app where you’re going to get all the answers before you even start. It’s more like headlights on a car. It illuminates the path just a few feet in front of you, but you see to drive from here California that way. But without it, you’re lost in the dark.
Commit today that you are going to get into God’s Word. Let Him use it to light your path and guide your life. It will be time well spent.
